Job summary

State of Indiana seeks an Enforcement Case Manager in the Office of Air Quality to investigate violations and manage enforcement actions. You will coordinate with legal teams and communities to uphold environmental standards and ensure compliance.

A degree is not required, but five years of relevant experience is considered. The role involves travel and collaboration across agencies, offices, and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of Indiana environmental rules, permitting requirements, and Clean Air Act provisions.
• Manage enforcement cases from initiation to resolution, including evidence and settlements.
• Strong written and verbal communication for engaging with regulated entities and legal teams.

Responsibilities

• Serves as environmental expert and provides guidance to regulated communities, government officials, and staff responsible for programs.
• Project Management: ensure effective and timely management of program area needs and act as technical point-of-contact.
• Permits: research guidance, request information, respond to comments, and interact with permittees.
• Inspection: conduct surveys and investigations, read plans, cite violations, provide guidance.
• Enforcement & Compliance: use tools to ensure return to compliance with laws and standards.
• Support Services: support various programs within the assigned agency.
• Sampling: assist with sampling plans and conduct field work as required.
• Technical Analysis & Testing: perform analysis to assess environmental impacts.
• Outreach Coordination: communicate with stakeholders about permits, laws, questions, and program inquiries.
• Travel frequently to inspect, audit, or investigate clients and write reports.
