Job summary

Noatum Logistics in New York is seeking an Air or Ocean Specialist to manage daily freight forwarding operations, including customer service, shipment tracking, document handling, and regulatory compliance.

You will plan services to balance customer needs with costs, develop knowledge of client shipping patterns, and collaborate with carriers, forwarders, and destinations to ensure accurate, timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Import operational experience in international transportation.
• Knowledge of applicable state, federal and international laws and regulations.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Competent math skills using units of currency, weight, volume and distance.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Competency in PC, spreadsheets, and database applications (including Microsoft Office).

Responsibilities

• Enter transportation data to meet regulatory and tracking requirements.
• Ensure regulatory requirements are met and proper documentation exists for shipments.
• Ensure documentation is accurately processed and released to carriers, forwarders, customers, and agents.
• Confirm key milestones (departure, arrival, customs clearance, PODs) per SOP.
• Negotiate shipping rates and submit to local management for approval.
• Complete accurate billing to clients based on established pricing.
• Use Incoterms and commercial invoice requirements to support customer needs.
• Develop methods and procedures for transportation of commodities to warehouses or final destinations.
• Arrange transfer and delivery of shipments with appropriate partners.
• Prepare shipment management information and reports per department KPIs.
• Manage import needs for larger or complex key accounts or specialized services.
• Arrange inbound bonded movement of cargo.
• Assist supervisor in training new employees.
• Develop and maintain relationships with customers, government agencies, and vendors.
• Participate as an effective team member in a fast-paced environment.
• Maintain courteous, prompt, and efficient customer relations.
• Comply with procedures to ensure a safe and organized workplace.
