Air Conditioning Instructor

Air Conditioning Instructor, T&T Agency: West Georgia Technical College. Job Requisition ID: JR0000005354. Shift: Not Applicable (United States of America). Compensation: $57,200.00 PER YEAR.

Location

Carroll Campus. However, this position will start at the Carroll Campus and transfer to Coweta-Central Education Center after the new lab is completed.

Job Summary

Instructor is responsible for performing all aspects of instruction for the Air Conditioning Technology program. The responsibilities of this position include day, evening, and online programs for both traditional and dual-enrolled students.

Required Education and Experience

Diploma in Air Conditioning Technology or related diploma/degree from an accredited institution. Three (3) years out of the past five (5) years of in-field experience. EPA 608 Certification. Valid driver’s license.

Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree in Air Conditioning Technology or related field from an accredited institution. Directly related teaching experience at the post-secondary level. Online teaching experience. Knowledge and experience in the use of technology: internet, email, Microsoft Office products, Knowledge Management System (KMS), Blackboard, Banner, Degree Works, and Task Stream. Alternate Industry Certifications: HVAC Excellence Certificate, NATE Certification, RES Certificate, GCILB Conditioned Air.

Instruction

Provides instruction in theory and practical applications of Air Conditioning Technology in accordance with academic state standards. Instructs face-to-face, hybrid, or on-campus, as needed, in accordance with college faculty loads. Instructs courses in a classroom and lab environment that closely simulates the environment of the industry. Utilizes current technology in the classroom and lab. Evaluates student progress in attaining goals and objectives. Grades all coursework in a timely manner. Meets with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss student instructional programs and other issues. Maintains program certification/accreditation requirements as appropriate for the teaching discipline. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in Air Conditioning Technology. Attends professional development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

Safety and Technology

Ensures safety and security requirements are met in the Air Conditioning Technology program. Supports faculty to ensure all equipment is in working order. Suggests new/updated technology to remain current with trends and developments within the field. Ensure students are instructed in and follow all safety rules for operating equipment and using tools. Ensure classrooms and work areas are properly cleaned and maintained at all times.

Curriculum/Student and Program Learning Outcomes

Develops program curriculum, syllabi, goals, and objectives. Prepares lesson plans for instruction. Works collaboratively with faculty within the discipline to establish, measure, and evaluate program or departmental student learning outcomes for continuous student improvement and success, and submits to the Air Conditioning Program Director. Submits reports and data with respect to accrediting bodies. Reviews and edits master course shells in the online learning platform as necessary. Supports Program Director, Division Deans, and Associate Deans. Requests and maintains HVAC supplies and equipment. Prepare budget requests and place orders for needed supplies and equipment. Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts. Serves on committees and project assignments as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee must occasionally lift or move classroom/lab equipment and supplies up to 25 pounds.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time instructional position. The workload is Monday through Friday, with day/evening hours (40 hours). Weekends are based on need. Instructor pay is based on a 40-hour work week with 29 hours of course contact per week. A minimum of 35 hours per week must be on campus. Travel traveling to other campuses is a possibility for teaching assignments, meetings, training, and professional development.
