Jobtailor in Indianapolis seeks a Warehouse Cargo Handler to load, unload, and organize air cargo within a busy warehouse. You will operate forklifts and pallet jacks, build cargo for outbound flights, and assist in moving freight to and from aircraft and trucks.

Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this high-noise environment. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 18+ years old, a valid driver's license, TWU membership, and the ability to lift up to 70 lbs.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must join the Transport Workers Union (TWU) and pay union dues
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak, and understand English
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including weekends, holidays, and days off
  • Ability to judge distances
  • Ability to successfully communicate with others
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a high-noise-level environment

Responsibilities

  • Move air cargo within the designated warehouse.
  • Load and unload cargo from pallets and containers.
  • Build up cargo for outbound flights.
  • Break down cargo from import flights.
  • Facilitate loading and unloading cargo to and from semitrucks.
  • Operate basic cargo-handling equipment such as forklifts, aircraft pallets, and pallet jacks.
  • Check freight for piece count, weight, dimensions, and documentation.
  • Transport cargo to and from aircraft using a 3,000 lb. vehicle and read off-load sheets.
  • Perform aircraft push-out and towing functions using ground-to-cockpit hand signals and voice commands.
  • Understand and react to verbal commands and safety warnings.
  • Complete required forms and messages.
  • Perform routine cleaning of work areas, ramps, and facilities when assigned.
  • Assist in monitoring facility security and report security breaches, suspicious occurrences, or non-compliance
