Job summary

Horizon Education Centers in Lorain, OH is seeking a Classroom Aide/School Age Driver for driving 14-passenger minibus and 6-passenger vans after school. The role includes supervising children and assisting with attendance/transportation documentation from 2pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must be 21+ and have a clean driving record (no more than 4 points) to drive Horizon; training provided.
• Some experience or interest in child development preferred.
• Willingness to complete required training, DCY licensing rules, and professional development.
• Must adapt quickly to changing environments and assignments.
• We seek someone prompt, reliable, and with a genuine love of children.
• Must lift and carry up to 40 lbs. and pass background checks and medical screening.

Do you enjoy driving? Horizon is looking for experienced drivers to transport children to and from school and our childcare centers, and on field trips during breaks and summer.

Classroom Aide/School Age Driver

Drivers are required to care for and monitor the children on the field trip.

Location: East Lorain Childcare Center

Wage Information: Pay rate of $13.75 per hour for classroom aide and an additional $3.00 per hour for driving. Driving is required for this position.

Reports to: Center Director

Hours: 2pm to 6pm, Monday through Friday. Hours may adjust to meet specific site hours. Some locations may have opportunities to work until 6pm with school-age children as well.

Job Description

• Responsible for the care and supervision of children at all times in accordance with licensing standards and best practices
• Work as part of a team with other teachers, leads, center staff and the director
• Assist in documentation for attendance and transportation services provided
• Build positive relationships with children, families and other staff members through prompt and accurate response and service, cheerful and professional attitude, and problem-solving spirit
• Seasonal requirements would include field trips, additional destination trips, and supervision of the children during the event
• Bus inspections, maintaining of mileage log, and bus cleaning is required
• Maintain professionalism and confidentiality with personnel and family information
• All other duties as needed/assigned

QualificationsQualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• MUST be 21 years of age and have a current license with a clean driving record (no more than 4 points) to drive Horizon, training provided. Drivers must be licensed for a minimum of 5 years.
• Some training, experience and/or interest in child development preferred
• Willingness to update job knowledge with required training, DCY licensing rules and SUTQ professional development opportunities, and industry trends
• Must be able to adapt quickly to changing environments and assignments as required
• We seek someone who is prompt and reliable and who possesses a genuine love of children
• Must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 40 lbs. as required
• Must be able to pass background checks and physical/ medical screening as required
