Job summary

Groundswell is seeking an experienced engineer to translate business problems into AI-enabled solutions and own capabilities end to end—from discovery to deployment. You may determine when AI is not the right fit, and you will work across client delivery, internal product work, and rapid proofs of concept with broad exposure to engineers, executives, and end users.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and shipping production software.
• At least 1 year hands-on experience with large language models and AI integration.
• Ability to own a capability end to end from ambiguous requirement to production.
• Experience evaluating AI systems with tests, metrics, and deployment decisions.
• Strong programming in Python, TypeScript, or SQL across the full stack.
• Lead requirements conversations with non-technical stakeholders and translate to technical approach.
• Judgment on tradeoffs between accuracy, cost, latency, and complexity.
• Excellent written communication for client-facing contexts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction and teach others.

Responsibilities

• Lead requirements conversations with stakeholders, define workflow and success criteria.
• Define technical approach and defend AI pattern selection (extraction, classification, summarization, retrieval, or agentic).
• Recommend simpler solutions when appropriate (rules, process changes, interfaces).
• Build complete capability, including prompts, retrieval, APIs, data handling, and UI.
• Develop evaluation sets and iterate based on results toward deployment.
• Make architecture decisions considering quality, cost, latency, and security.
• Operationalize capabilities with governance, logging, and drift monitoring.
• Mentor engineers new to AI through code reviews and pairing.
• Stay current on models and tooling to reuse patterns across the team.
