Job summary

RAND’s Center on AI, Security, and Technology (CAST) seeks a Visiting AI Security Resident to lead projects at the intersection of AI, security, and policy. You will develop threat models, build evaluation tools, and report findings to senior government and industry leaders.

This three-year term offers hybrid work arrangements and opportunities for longer-term employment within RAND. Strong programming (Python/Java/C++) and policy-analysis skills are essential.

Qualifications

• All research positions require excellent analytic skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
• Ability to lead complex projects to completion and work in a multidisciplinary team.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, or C/C++ and ability to develop rigorous threat models.
• Experience advising non-technical stakeholders on security topics and policy options.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex research projects spanning technical research, policy analysis, and infrastructure development.
• Develop AI-specific threat models and tools for AI cyber capability evaluations.
• Communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences through briefs and reports.
• Collaborate across disciplines and mentor team members.
