Job summary

RAND Corporation's Center on AI, Security, and Technology seeks a Visiting AI Security Resident to lead research at the intersection of AI, security, and policy. You will guide cross-disciplinary teams, develop threat models, and build tools for evaluating AI cyber capabilities.

The role complements RAND’s mission to inform government and industry leaders with rigorous analysis, spanning technical research and policy implications.

Qualifications

• PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field required or Master’s with 3+ years relevant experience.
• Strong analytic, written and oral communication skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects spanning technical research, policy analysis, and infrastructure development.
• Develop AI-specific threat models and risk assessments for secure AI systems.
• Build software tools for AI cyber capability evaluations and model deployment.
• Communicate results to technical and non-technical audiences through briefs and reports.
