Job summary

Cogent, a cybersecurity AI research lab in the United States, is hiring a Security Researcher to develop the offensive side of our research. You will turn red team tradecraft into autonomous capabilities, shaping how attackers become scalable AI-powered agents.

You'll own end-to-end red team operations, extend coverage from initial access to post-exploitation across Windows and on-prem environments, and collaborate with cloud security researchers to broaden reach.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of offensive security or red team experience.
• Hands-on operator with end-to-end full-chain operations across Windows and on-prem.
• Proficient in coding to automate tradecraft (e.g., Python).
• Experience in building realistic test environments or cyber ranges.

Responsibilities

• Design and build red team agents and the agent harness, MCP servers, and skills.
• Extend red team coverage to full attack chains across Windows, AD, on-prem, and cloud.
• Develop evasion techniques and test harness with detection loop against EDR.
• Design cyber ranges with realistic defenses for training and benchmarking.
• Create benchmarks to measure improvements using frameworks like IntrusionBench.
• Validate findings in customer-like environments and contribute to open research.
