Job summary

DXC Technology in Arlington, VA is seeking experienced software engineers to design, develop, and operate AI agents and generative AI applications using Python. You will build agent workflows, prompts, and retrieval strategies, and integrate with cloud services via boto3 and MCP-based tools in a security-conscious, enterprise context.

This hybrid, on-site 2–3 days per week role requires an active Secret clearance, a CS/engineering degree, and 3+ years of hands-on Python development with AI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• 3+ years of hands-on software development experience with Python and production-quality applications.
• Strong Python development skills including OO design, modules, dependencies, exception handling, logging, testing, and API development.
• Hands-on experience developing AI agents, agentic workflows, LLM-based applications, or similar generative AI capabilities.
• Strong prompt engineering experience, including system prompts, task instructions, structured outputs, grounding and context management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain AI agents and generative AI applications using Python.
• Develop agent workflows that use LLMs to interpret requests, reason across steps, select tools, and generate grounded responses.
• Refine prompts, task instructions, and response formats for reliability and business rule adherence.
• Develop agent orchestration with state/context management and tool integration.
• Build reusable Python libraries, prompts, and components for reuse across use cases.
• Create automated tests for AI workflows, prompts, tool use, and model responses.
