Job summary

Amazon Web Services, Inc. is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to embed within enterprise customer teams, designing, building, deploying, and running AI-powered production systems alongside the customer's engineers.

You will own the full AI workstream from requirements gathering to production deployment, combining software rigor with customer-focused ownership to deliver measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience working in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus)
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams. Translate customer requirements into technical designs for AI-enabled production systems.
• Build production AI applications powering AI and agentic workflows — retrieval pipelines, workflow automation, API orchestration layers, data integration.
• Own production for your workstream across the full software development lifecycle, troubleshooting incidents and maintaining health.
• Mentor and uplift through code reviews and training.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators for future deployments and AWS services
