Job summary

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer II to join enterprise customers and deliver production-grade AI-powered systems. You will own end-to-end delivery, from requirements to deployment, embedding with customer teams and driving measurable outcomes.

You will design, implement and operate AI-enabled production software, integrate data sources, and optimize latency and cost. Travel 30-50% and mentor teammates while accelerating AI adoption across engagements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of experience in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment
• Experience communicating technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Experience with agentic and spec-driven development (developing AI agents a plus)
• Experience with AI tools: eval frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering
• Experience working in customer production environments
• Experience building or deploying AI/ML applications in production environments
• Background as a founder, engineering lead, or startup builder with high ownership and urgency
• Prior experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and/or Go
• Experience interfacing with customers or leading technical projects with external stakeholders
• Experience working with teams that build and scale end-to-end production systems
• Experience with AWS services

Responsibilities

• Embed within customer engineering teams; understand business value and translate requirements into designs. Travel 30–50%.
• Build production AI applications powering AI/workflows; design, code, integrate data sources and optimize latency, reliability, cost.
• Own production for the workstream across lifecycle; troubleshoot incidents and improve operations.
• Mentor and uplift; code review and knowledge sharing across the team.
• Accelerate customer adoption by codifying reusable patterns and accelerators.
