PeopleFirst Resources is seeking a highly specialized AI Product Owner in Reston, VA (Hybrid). This contract position leads the evolution of our client product suite with a focus on embedding AI capabilities into healthcare insurance products.

You will bridge strategic business needs with technical teams, collaborating across multiple scrum teams to identify AI use cases and translate them into concrete requirements and specifications for GenAI and Agentic workflows.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of total product ownership or technical product delivery experience.
• Hands-on AI experience with Generative AI and Agentic AI architectures.
• Strong knowledge of modern AI infrastructure, vector databases, and model integrations.
• Experience in complex Agile/Scrum environments with multiple engineering teams.

AI Product Owner

Job Description

We are seeking a highly specialized and deeply technical Senior Product Owner with 8+ years of experience and a proven track record in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to spearhead the evolution of our client product suite. Unlike broad product management roles, this position features a narrowed, execution-focused scope entirely dedicated to uncovering, defining, and embedding cutting-edge AI capabilities into their healthcare insurance products.

The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between strategic business needs and technical engineering teams. You will collaborate across multiple scrum teams to identify powerful AI use cases, translate them into concrete user requirements, and guide the implementation of both Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI architectures.

You will drive both AI enhancements for existing mature products and introduce native AI capabilities to brand-new, unestablished product lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Use Case Identification: Evaluate diverse product portfolios to proactively identify gaps and friction points where AI can unlock measurable value.
• Requirement Engineering: Translate complex machine learning capabilities into clear, actionable user requirements, user stories, and technical specifications for GenAI and Agentic workflows.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work intimately across multiple scrum teams and technical engineering squads to maintain a unified AI integration strategy.
• Architectural Alignment: Comprehend the current AI architecture and data infrastructure to assist engineering teams with technical AI enhancements and integrations.
• Dual Ecosystem Delivery: Balance the enhancement of existing legacy platforms with the greenfield development of net-new AI native products.
• Value Proposition Definition: Clearly articulate "what" value and business transformations the proposed AI solutions bring to our users and stakeholders.

This position is hybrid (1x+ per week onsite in Reston VA) and requires a final round onsite interview.

Required Skills

• Experience: Minimum of 7+ years of total product ownership or technical product delivery experience.
• AI Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience designing and launching products using Generative AI and Agentic AI architectures (such as autonomous agents, LLM orchestration frameworks, and multi-agent systems).
• Technical Literacy: Strong grasp of modern AI infrastructure, vector databases, prompt engineering pipelines, and foundational model integrations.
• Scrum Proficiency: Extensive history working within complex Agile/Scrum environments managing backlog dependencies across multiple engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Healthcare Domain: Experience working within healthcare tech, specifically relating to healthcare insurance products, claims processing, compliance, or clinical workflows.
• Roadmapping & Vision: A strong background in strategic roadmap planning and visionary thinking to foresee long-term AI trends and weave them into current product phases.
