Our client is seeking an experienced AI/Data Product Manager / Product Owner to lead the delivery of AI- and data-driven products within a complex enterprise environment. This individual will serve as the day-to-day product authority, partnering closely with Data, AI/ML, Engineering, Architecture, UX, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into clearly defined product requirements and executable roadmaps.
This is an execution-focused Product Owner role requiring someone who is comfortable working directly with highly technical teams. The ideal candidate does not need to be an AI engineer, but must have enough technical depth to understand how AI agents are built, how data flows through the solution, how systems integrate, and what is required to move AI/data products from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog, roadmap, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria for AI- and data-focused products.
- Partner closely with Data Engineering, Data Science, AI/ML, Software Engineering, Architecture, and UX teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Translate business objectives and stakeholder needs into clear technical and functional requirements.
- Lead discovery sessions with business stakeholders and technical teams to define problems, use cases, requirements, dependencies, and success criteria.
- Understand AI/GenAI capabilities well enough to help shape product decisions around AI agents, LLM-powered solutions, data pipelines, APIs, integrations, and enterprise systems.
- Work with engineering teams to understand how AI agents interact with data sources, applications, APIs, tools, and other enterprise platforms.
- Prioritize features and technical work based on business value, customer impact, feasibility, risk, and dependencies.
- Develop detailed user stories and acceptance criteria and ensure requirements are understood by development teams.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, Sprint Planning, reviews, retrospectives, and release planning.
- Partner with technical teams to identify dependencies, integration requirements, data-quality concerns, security considerations, and delivery risks.
- Support testing, UAT, release readiness, production deployment, and post-launch adoption.
- Establish product KPIs and use data, user feedback, and product performance to continuously improve the solution.
- Communicate product direction, priorities, delivery status, risks, and tradeoffs to both technical teams and senior business stakeholders.
Required Experience
- Strong experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, or Technical Product Owner delivering enterprise technology products.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with data engineering, data science, analytics, AI/ML, or GenAI teams.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments.
- Experience owning product roadmaps, backlogs, requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and release planning.
- Enough technical depth to understand and discuss:
- AI agents and agentic workflows
- Generative AI / LLM-based applications
- APIs and system integrations
- Data pipelines and data movement
- How applications connect to enterprise data sources and systems
- Dependencies between front-end applications, services, data platforms, and AI capabilities
- Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and architects without needing to be a hands-on developer.
- Strong stakeholder-management skills with the ability to translate between business and technical audiences.
- Strong analytical mindset with experience using data and metrics to drive product decisions.
- Excellent communication, organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred
- Experience delivering AI agents, GenAI applications, intelligent assistants, RAG-based solutions, or other AI-enabled products.
- Exposure to cloud-based data and AI platforms.
- Experience with enterprise APIs, microservices, SaaS integrations, or integration platforms.
- Understanding of data quality, governance, privacy, security, and responsible AI considerations.
- Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Aha!, or similar product-management platforms.
- SAFe, CSPO, CSM, or related Agile/Product certification.
Ideal Profile
The strongest candidate will be a true Product Owner who understands the technology, rather than someone who operates only at the business-requirements level. They should be able to sit with AI, data, and engineering teams and understand conversations around agents, APIs, integrations, data sources, architecture, and technical dependencies, while still owning the business priorities, backlog, user experience, and overall product outcome.
