Job summary

HP IQ in San Francisco invites motivated students to join an AI internship, helping design, build, and deploy agents that use pre-trained models to assist developers and quality engineers. You'll work directly with our hiring manager and team to tackle real problems and contribute meaningfully to tools thousands of developers will rely on.

You'll collaborate with software engineers, ML engineers, product managers, designers, and other cross-functional partners to deliver impactful solutions.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or recently completed bachelor’s or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Solid understanding of coding fundamentals and ability to learn new languages/frameworks as needed.
• Familiarity with agentic systems or AI tools (Claude Code or OpenAI); deep ML expertise not required.
• Ability to break down complex problems and work independently while knowing when to ask for help.
• Willingness to question established processes and contribute fresh thinking.
• Strong communication skills to explain reasoning and technical choices.
• Familiarity with software development workflows, QA, testing practices, or developer tooling (helpful).

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and iterate on AI-powered tools and workflows that improve engineering productivity.
• Develop intelligent systems to automate software development, testing, debugging, or QA processes.
• Prototype and evaluate new approaches for applying LLMs and agentic AI to engineering challenges.
• Collaborate with software engineers, ML engineers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional partners.
• Participate in technical design discussions, code reviews, and problem-solving sessions.
• Analyze challenges, propose innovative solutions, and contribute ideas to improve products and workflows.
• Build, test, and iterate on production-quality software while learning best practices.
• Present work and learnings to contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
