Job summary

HP IQ is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for the AML Platform (Summer 2027) in San Francisco. You will help optimize model inference, orchestration, and fine-tuning within a cross-functional team, gaining exposure to end-to-end AI systems on-device.

You will collaborate with experienced engineers, contribute to core AML pillars, and participate in open-source or internal library work while building real-world skills in AI model deployment and optimization.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; coursework in ML or systems engineering is helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to articulate goals, outcomes, and decisions clearly to peers and mentors.
• Familiarity with model inference, orchestration frameworks, or model fine-tuning; project or open-source work is valued.
• Strong collaboration ethos; able to work across cross-functional teams and take ownership.
• Strong debugging and decision-making skills when multiple approaches exist.

Responsibilities

• Work on model hosting and inference optimization; profile, benchmark, and accelerate model execution on edge devices.
• Contribute to orchestration frameworks and agent workflows; build robust, scalable orchestrations.
• Participate in model customization and fine-tuning; run experiments and evaluate results.
• Collaborate with system software, design, and product teams to integrate work into the platform.
• Contribute to open-source projects or internal libraries related to inference or training.
