Job summary

The Alliance for Secure AI is hiring a Social Media Manager to own the organization’s day-to-day social presence and shape how The Alliance participates in the national conversation around artificial intelligence.

This hands-on role requires strong writing, political and cultural instincts, and the ability to translate complex AI issues into clear, engaging content for policymakers, journalists, partners, and the public.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years in digital communications, social media, politics, campaigns, advocacy, public affairs, media, marketing, or a related field.
• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complicated subjects clear, concise, and interesting.
• Interest in AI safety, AI security, emerging technology, and the risks and downsides of advanced AI.
• The judgment and independence to represent The Alliance’s mission accurately without requiring constant direction.

Responsibilities

• Own day‑to‑day management of The Alliance’s social media channels, including X, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant platforms.
• Write, schedule, publish, and optimize social content aligned with The Alliance’s communications strategy, policy priorities, campaigns, and brand.
• Monitor the news cycle closely and identify timely opportunities for The Alliance to participate in conversations around AI, technology, national security, civil liberties, the workforce, and public policy.
• Turn breaking news, hearings, legislation, research, media coverage, events, and organizational announcements into timely social content.
• Develop and maintain a forward‑looking content calendar while retaining the flexibility to respond quickly to breaking news and changing priorities.
• Translate complex AI policy and technical issues into clear, compelling content for nontechnical audiences.
• Develop platform‑specific copy, graphics, short‑form video concepts, clips, threads, carousels, and other digital content.
• Draft social media content and digital messaging for The Alliance leadership.
• Help establish and maintain a distinct, consistent, and recognizable Alliance voice across social platforms.
• Engage strategically with journalists, policymakers, researchers, partner organizations, influencers, and other relevant voices online.
• Monitor comments, mentions, direct messages, and online conversations relevant to The Alliance and flag emerging opportunities or risks.
