Job summary

Chalk is building a data platform for ML inference, delivering scalable, low-latency solutions inside customers' clouds. We seek a Forward Deployed Strategist who will shape technical direction across sales, delivery, and support, ensuring architectural depth and robust integration patterns.

You will work with FDEs on real production contexts, addressing fraud, payments, underwriting, and more, while weighing trade-offs and driving outcomes through well-scoped, measurable POCs and clear customer

Qualifications

Extensive experience with production infrastructure and live traffic systems.
Ability to advise engineering teams and defend technical decisions.
Strong Python and SQL skills with ability to read customer code and discuss it.

Responsibilities

Run technical discovery to understand customer systems and goals.
Advise on architecture and migration plans with clear sequencing.
Design on Chalk and set correctness, latency, and cost bars.
Design agentic solutions and safe execution within customer clouds.
Scope and execute tight POCs with well-defined success criteria.
Answer principal engineers' questions during the sales cycle.
Identify valuable work and ensure it fits customer needs.
Break work into projects with owners and dates, handing deep work to delivery engineers.
Coordinate with account management and support to align technical direction.
Share field learnings with product and engineering for impactful changes.
