Job summary

Harley Ellis Devereaux (HED) is seeking an AI Platform Engineer to build, evaluate, and improve AI capabilities that support our people and practice. You will develop production AI solutions, evaluate LLMs, and transform organizational knowledge into secure, accessible intelligence.

Working in our Data & AI team, you will own defined technical initiatives, collaborate with developers and data engineers, and influence technical decisions while growing into broader platform leadership.

Qualifications

• 4–6+ years of experience in software engineering or related technical discipline.
• Hands-on experience developing, deploying, or supporting LLM applications in production.
• Experience implementing AI evaluations, benchmarks, or performance testing.
• Working knowledge of RAG, information retrieval, prompt engineering, and context optimization.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, Git, automated testing, and modern software development practices.
• Experience with cloud applications, APIs, and data integration workflows.
• Understanding of enterprise data governance, privacy, and security.
• Ability to independently deliver complex technical assignments and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop model benchmarks, evaluation datasets, testing methods, and baselines for production AI.
• Evaluate models, prompts, and configurations for quality, cost, latency; document findings.
• Support preproduction validation of model and prompt changes.
• Develop retrieval-augmented generation, ranking, prompts, context management, and caching.
• Measure token usage and costs; guide improvements.
• Collaborate with application developers to improve AI capabilities and user experiences.
• Deliver AI use cases from requirements to adoption and improvement.
• Design workflows to capture employee expertise for AI apps.
• Develop structured data models and knowledge capture workflows with data engineering.
• Define requirements and success criteria with stakeholders.
• Apply privacy, security, data classification, retention and access-control requirements to AI solutions.
