Job summary

Cisco’s AI and Automation team seeks an AI Ops Engineer to advance the Circuit platform. This hybrid role offers onsite 3 days/week in Raleigh or San Jose, focusing on optimizing LLM usage, automated model routing, and production-grade AI tooling.

You will collaborate with product and design teams, mentor peers, and drive high-impact features from concept to production while upholding security and cost-efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in CS/AI/related field with 4+ years (Master’s 2+ years, PhD 1+ year) of related experience.
• Proven experience applying AI/ML to real-world problems and evaluating new AI/ML tech.
• Strong grasp of AI/ML tech, LLMs, model fine-tuning, and production deployment.
• Hands-on software development experience; ability to deploy production-ready artifacts and assess security implications.
• Experience using AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code).
• Ability to communicate trade-offs for cost, quality, and performance.

Responsibilities

• Research and implement new AI techniques to optimize cost and performance.
• Evaluate and compare fine-tuning open-source LLMs with industry models.
• Build and maintain AI features within the Circuit platform to automate processes.
• Apply Agentic AI to modernize existing features in Circuit.
• Monitor AI landscape and integrate new models, deprioritizing underperforming ones.
• Lead feature delivery from concept to production with cross-functional teams.
