Job summary

Elevance Health, Inc. is seeking an AI-Native Software Engineer to ship, evaluate, secure, and support production systems using AI across the SDLC. You will build agentic AI engineering solutions and collaborate with engineers and designers in a hybrid office model.

You'll work with AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, and Bedrock, review code, mentor teammates, and ensure high standards for security and data privacy while delivering scalable software for healthcare applications.

Qualifications

• Holds a BA/BS in information technology, computer science, or related field.
• Strong fundamentals in software engineering including cloud-native development, APIs, microservices, CI/CD, and secure SDLC.
• Experience building or integrating AI agents, tool/function calling, RAG, memory, model routing, evaluations, guardrails, observability, and secure API/tool access.
• Experience with healthcare, payer, claims, clinical, HIPAA, PHI, regulated industry, or enterprise security is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop agentic AI engineering technology across the SDLC.
• Daily or weekly use of AI coding tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, ChatGPT, or similar.
• Model evaluation and quality measurement.
• Maintain relationships with internal/external stakeholders to capture business requirements.
• Analyze and document complex change requests and potential system enhancements.
• Mentor others on coding standards and perform code reviews.
• Define application scope, objectives, and write technical specifications.
• Provide production support and monitor system health.
