Tailscale is seeking a Software Engineering Manager for our Strategic Projects team. This AI-native group builds infrastructure and reference architectures, guiding prototypes to production, including Aperture and other initiatives.

You will mentor senior engineers and collaborate with the CSO, PM, and customers to translate market signals into tangible designs. The role emphasizes high code quality, security, and fast shipping.

Qualifications

• Substantial experience leading and mentoring engineering teams.
• Experience developing in Go as part of a modern stack.
• Hands-on use of coding agents and LLMs in engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

• Mentor a senior team of engineers and partner with CSO, PM, and customers to turn market signals into prototypes and reference architectures.
• Make design decisions on prototypes that become production surface area and uphold the team’s quality bar.
• Define how the team uses AI coding tools and ensure secure, auditable agent-generated code.
