Job summary

Amazon is seeking an SDE II to join a team building AI-native tools that empower thousands of Amazon builders to work backward from customer needs. You will design and ship features across the full stack, including modern front-end experiences and backend services powering multi-agent AI systems.

You'll work with AI-enabled tooling, prompt engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation, collaborating with Applied Science and product teams to translate requirements into scalable software.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience for large systems.
• 1+ years designing and developing multi-tiered, distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using C#, C++, Java, or Perl.
• 1+ years of Object Oriented Design experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and deploy software components across our full-stack applications, including front-end web experiences and backend services
• Write clean, well-tested, production-ready code that others can maintain and extend
• Collaborate with team members on technical design, code reviews, and problem-solving, incorporating feedback to continuously improve code quality
• Work with product management and UX design to understand customer requirements and translate them into technical implementations
• Partner closely with Applied Science to apply best practices for building generative AI applications, including prompt engineering, retrieval systems, and agent-based architectures
• Contribute to planning, design, implementation, testing, operations, and process improvement
• Actively coach other engineers on the team and ensure the best engineering practices are adopted across the team.
