Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Senior AI/ML Engineer for an innovative healthcare services organization. This onsite, Addison, TX role involves designing and deploying production AI solutions in a regulated environment.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of Python software engineering and 2+ years deploying AI/ML applications, with hands-on experience with major LLM platforms and modern MLOps practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of Python software engineering experience, incl. 2+ years building and deploying production AI/ML apps.
• Experience with major LLM platforms and orchestration tools (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, etc).
• Strong experience with prompt engineering, RAG, model evaluation, and production deployment.
• Experience deploying AI workloads in cloud environments (Azure preferred) with modern MLOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support production AI/ML solutions, including LLM applications and traditional ML models.
• Partner with stakeholders to evaluate AI opportunities and prioritize initiatives based on business value.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Our partner is building the foundation for enterprise AI and is seeking a hands-on Senior AI/ML Engineer to help shape that journey from the ground up. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys solving complex business problems, evaluating where AI delivers the greatest value, and designing production-ready AI solutions in a highly regulated environment. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, deploy, and support production AI and machine learning solutions, including LLM applications, traditional ML models, and future agentic AI capabilities
• Partner with business stakeholders to evaluate opportunities, determine when AI is the right solution, and help prioritize enterprise AI initiatives based on business value
• Own the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including data preparation, model selection, prompt engineering, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, drift detection, and continuous improvement
• Develop secure, scalable AI architectures utilizing technologies such as RAG, vector databases, model gateways, APIs, and cloud-native services while meeting HIPAA and SOC 2 requirements
• Build evaluation frameworks, safety guardrails, observability, and MLOps processes to ensure reliable, production-ready AI systems
• Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Software Engineering, Security, and business teams to establish AI best practices and contribute to the organization's long-term AI strategy and technical roadmap

QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum 5 years of professional Python software engineering experience, including 2+ years building and deploying production AI, machine learning, or LLM-based applications
• Hands-on experience with at least one major LLM platform, such as Azure OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, or AWS Bedrock, along with frameworks including LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, or similar orchestration tools
• Strong experience with prompt engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), model evaluation, fine-tuning concepts, vector databases, AI observability, and production deployment
• Experience deploying AI workloads in cloud environments (Azure preferred) using modern MLOps practices and tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, Weights & Biases, or comparable technologies
• Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguous, greenfield environments, translating business needs into practical AI solutions while helping define technical direction and long-term architecture
• Experience building secure applications in regulated environments is strongly preferred, including familiarity with HIPAA technical safeguards, data governance, and enterprise security practices
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience)

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

This position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $145,000 to $160,000 (DOE) along with a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, and retirement savings options.
