Blue Shield of CA is seeking a Data Scientist, Consultant on our AI & Machine Learning team to translate cutting-edge AI research into real-world products. You will design, build, and deploy production-grade AI features inside customer-facing applications and enterprise workflows, including LLM-powered apps, RAG, and AI automation.

The role emphasizes rapid feature development, collaboration across partner teams, and delivering impact while adhering to governance and responsible AI principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/statistics/quantitative field
• 7+ years in software dev, applied AI/ML, statistics
• Proven track record shipping software products rapidly
• Strong Python skills and building APIs/backend services
• Experience with ML design, deployment, data processing
• Hands-on with DL and LLM frameworks (PyTorch, TF)
• Experience with generative AI models, prompt engineering, and RAG

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship production-grade AI products (LLM apps, agents, copilots, RAG, AI automation).
• Collaborate with partner teams to translate research into real-world features and scale impact.
