Job summary

IDB Invest is seeking an active graduate student intern for a Winter Internship in Washington, DC. The role focuses on semantic knowledge structuring, taxonomy, and ontology to support AI-powered search and knowledge graphs.

You will map metadata, design vocabularies, and pilot-test with a representative content sample. The program runs January 16 to March 15, 2027, full-time, in the SPK team at IDB Invest.

Qualifications

• Active Graduate Student in a relevant information science or knowledge management discipline.
• Interest in taxonomy design, metadata, and AI-enabled knowledge services.
• Comfort with qualitative and quantitative content analysis.

Responsibilities

• Map metadata, tagging, and categorization practices across knowledge sources.
• Design and refine a controlled vocabulary and taxonomy aligned with business lines.
• Draft a lightweight ontology of entities and relationships for future AI search apps.
• Pilot-test taxonomy on content, build a gold-standard reference set, measure tagging accuracy.
• Document standards and present recommendations for implementation.
