Job summary

The Inter-American Development Bank invites an active undergraduate student to join as an AI and Data Intern under the Consultant modality. The Winter 2027 Internship Program is a paid, two-month opportunity based in Washington, DC, for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank.

Qualifications

• Active undergraduate student in CS/Engineering/AI with graduation after the internship.
• Fluency in English with working knowledge of another Bank language (Spanish, French, or Portuguese) is a plus.
• Basic programming skills in Python; familiarity with data analysis and visualization tools such as Power BI; understanding of ML and generative AI concepts; ability to work with structured and unstructured data; basic knowledge of APIs, prompt engineering, and AI evaluation techniques; and ability to document technical work clearly.
• Citizenship: be a national of an IDB member country.
• Active student: enrolled in an undergraduate program as of the internship start date; graduation after internship.
• No family relations working at the IDB or IDB Invest.

Responsibilities

• Support the collection, cleaning, organization, and preparation of data for AI, ML, and analytics use cases.
• Assist in developing, testing, and documenting AI prototypes, proofs of concept, and automation solutions.
• Contribute to evaluating AI models by analyzing outputs and summarizing improvements.
• Research emerging AI methods and practices to inform team discussions and applications.
• Prepare clear technical documentation, summaries, and presentations for stakeholders.
