Job summary

Nscale is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Fleet Manager team. You will own the end-to-end delivery of a Python-based workflow platform that provisions, tests, and remediates GPU nodes and network switches at scale.

You will hire, coach, and align cross-functional teams across Engineering, Infrastructure, Platform, SRE, and UI/UX, while shaping architecture with Principal and Staff engineers.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years directly managing software engineers.
• Strong Python and distributed systems background with design and code-review capabilities.
• Track record delivering complex projects from ambiguous requirements to production.
• Proven people leadership: hiring, coaching, performance management, and developing engineers toward senior levels.
• Experience building scalable distributed systems and ensuring reliability and security.
• Ability to balance automation complexity with reliability and maintainability.
• Experience using AI tools like Claude or Cursor to augment team productivity.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the team: hire, onboard, coach, and manage performance; oversee on-call health and workload.
• Turn Fleet Manager roadmap into executable plans; prioritize, manage dependencies, and ship on time.
• Own delivery mechanisms: planning, reviews, escalations, and blocker removal.
• Drive engineering excellence: code reviews, testing, CI/CD, incident response, postmortems.
• Collaborate with Product, Infra, Platform, SRE, and UI/UX to define interfaces and ship integrations.
