Job summary

Pearson is modernizing its data foundations under an engineering leadership role. You will oversee AI-fluent engineering, gate quality, and governance across legacy and new platforms, ensuring continuous delivery and safe, auditable AI-enabled features for K-12 data products.

The role emphasizes cross-team coordination with product, security, and compliance, delivering reliable data contracts and scalable tooling while maintaining continuity for consumers, students, and educators.

Qualifications

• 4+ years managing engineers who ship to production
• Experience delivering a model-backed or agentic capability to real users, including evaluation before release and monitoring afterward
• Experience managing across a legacy and a target platform while shipping on both
• Comfortable managing a distributed team across time zones with strong written discipline
• Experience in regulated or privacy-sensitive environments; K-12 and FERPA exposure an advantage

Responsibilities

• Own planning, prioritization, and delivery commitments for your team and the operating rhythm
• Allocate people to work, manage escalations, and resolve blockers quickly and transparently
• Land process improvements rather than escalate the same friction repeatedly
• Lead the engineering delivery for Data Foundations, including roadmap execution and migration sequencing
• Set expectations for data contracts, quality gates, lineage, observability, access controls, and operational readiness
