Job summary

Amazon Security Detection, Response & Engineering (SDRE) is building a next-gen AI-first security platform from scratch in Austin, TX. You will own the technical architecture, drive ML/AI-enabled detection, and guide decisions balancing speed-to-market with durability.

As a Software Development Engineer II, you will lead, mentor, and collaborate with security leadership to deliver scalable solutions guarding Amazon's infrastructure and customer data.

Qualifications

3+ years professional software development experience.
2+ years design/architecture experience.
Experience coding in at least one programming language.

Responsibilities

Own the technical architecture of critical components within our new defensive security platform.
Drive the AI-first approach by applying ML, generative AI, and automation to workflows.
Make high-judgment technical trade-offs across distributed systems and architectures.
Influence the product roadmap with leadership to define what we build and why it matters.
Set engineering standards for CI/CD, observability, and security across the team.
Mentor engineers and foster a culture of curiosity and ownership.
Navigate ambiguity and drive data-driven decisions across boundaries.
Own end-to-end delivery of production systems with high autonomy.
