Job summary

MasteryPrep LLC is seeking a Backend Product Engineer to own the data and backend systems powering our AI-first education platform. You will design, build, and maintain scalable backend services and data pipelines that power ACT/SAT/TSIA workflows.

Responsibilities include creating APIs on Google Cloud Platform, managing data across PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Firebase, and integrating AI/LLM capabilities. You will work closely with SRE to ensure reliability, security, and scalability in

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional backend development experience.
• Experience building production APIs and services.
• Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL) – schema design and performance.
• GCP experience; Firebase/Firestore familiarity.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and integrating AI/LLM APIs.
• Strong communication across engineering, product, and support.

Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and maintenance of backend services and data systems powering our products.
• Build and maintain APIs and services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Manage data layer across PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Firebase including migrations and performance.
• Practice AI-first development; leverage AI tooling daily.
• Design backend systems to support AI-powered product features and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with SRE for deployments, observability, incidents, and security.
