MasteryPrep LLC is seeking a Backend Product Engineer to own the data and backend systems powering our learning platforms for the ACT, SAT, TSIA, and other high-stakes assessments. This AI-first role uses AI-native development tools daily, shaping systems from the start.

You will build with a focus on reliability and scale. You’ll design, develop, and maintain backend services and data pipelines, implement APIs on Google Cloud Platform, and manage data across PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Firebase,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend development experience.
• Experience building production APIs and services.
• GCP and Firebase/Firestore experience.
• Interest in AI-assisted development and LLM integration.

Responsibilities

• Own backend services and data systems powering products.
• Build and maintain APIs on Google Cloud Platform.
• Manage data layer across PostgreSQL, Firestore, and Firebase.
• Apply AI-first development practices using AI tools daily.
• Design backend systems to support AI-powered features with LLMs.
• Collaborate with SRE to ensure deployments, observability and reliability.
• Ensure data security and privacy for schools and students.
