Job summary

MasteryPrep LLC is seeking a Backend Product Engineer to own data and backend systems powering our AI-driven education platforms. This remote-USA role collaborates with SRE to ensure reliability, security, and scalability while delivering production-grade APIs on GCP.

You’ll design data schemas across PostgreSQL and Firestore, integrate AI-powered features, and emphasize privacy and accessibility as part of building robust, scalable software for schools and students.

Qualifications

• 5+ years backend development experience.
• Production APIs and services experience.
• GCP and Firebase/Firestore experience.
• Experience with AI-assisted development.
• Experience integrating AI/LLM APIs into applications.
• Strong communication across teams.
• Experience in education technology or assessment platforms.
• Familiarity with WCAG accessibility guidelines.
• Data migrations between environments.
• Observability tooling and incident response exposure.

Responsibilities

• Own design, development, and maintenance of backend services and data systems.
• Build and maintain APIs and services on Google Cloud Platform.
• Manage data layer across PostgreSQL, Firestore and Firebase.
• Practice AI-first development and tooling daily.
• Design backend systems powering AI features and data pipelines.
• Partner with SRE to manage deployments, observability and reliability.
• Safeguard data security and privacy across systems.
• Write clear technical documentation and communicate decisions.
