Job summary

Alpha School in Dorado, Puerto Rico is hiring a Reading Specialist to lead AI-enhanced literacy workshops for K-2 students, targeting grade-level proficiency. You will design engaging sessions, analyze data, and collaborate with engineers to improve the AI tools used daily.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree, a Master's in reading instruction or equivalent certification, 2+ years of structured reading instruction, and fluency in English and Spanish.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in any subject, plus Master's in reading instruction or a structured literacy certification.
• 2+ years of recent, full-time K-2 structured reading instruction in a school or clinical setting, using systematic phonics or structured literacy.
• Skilled at administering and analyzing reading assessments, grouping students, and designing differentiated reading lessons without relying on a scripted curriculum.
• An energetic, engaging presence with K-2 students, plus fluency in English and Spanish.
• Proficient with AI or adaptive learning tools, able to interpret student performance data, and willing to adapt as the tools change.
• Legal authorization to work in Puerto Rico without sponsorship and willingness to work on-site in Dorado.

Responsibilities

• Delivering adaptive reading workshops building phonics, comprehension, and fluency skills
• Designing personalized motivational sessions using gamified literacy milestones
• Analyzing student progress data to refine instruction and surface actionable insights
• Collaborating with engineers to evaluate and enhance AI literacy tools based on classroom results
• Developing scalable, AI-enhanced content that enables early elementary students to achieve grade-level proficiency
