Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking a highly skilled AI engineer to design and deploy AI-driven solutions, integrating LLMs via APIs and orchestration frameworks.

You will build multi-agent workflows, craft prompts, validate outputs, and work with stakeholders to discuss tradeoffs. This role requires TS/SCI clearance and expertise in Python, AWS, and MLOps practices.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret/SCI Clearance with a Full Scope Polygraph required.
• Strong Python development skills, including production-quality, maintainable code.
• Hands-on experience building applications on top of existing LLMs via APIs for commercial or self-hosted models.
• Experience designing multi-agent or multi-step AI workflows, including prompt chaining, tool use, and agent orchestration.
• Strong prompt engineering skills and experience evaluating and validating LLM outputs.
• Experience integrating AI capabilities into existing software architectures, including RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Experience with AWS
• Experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines and vector databases desired.
• Familiarity with LLM observability and evaluation tooling desired.
• Experience conducting exploratory data analysis on structured and unstructured datasets desired.
• Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps practices desired.
• Familiarity with government agency reporting and dissemination policies desired.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop AI-driven solutions from conception through deployment.
• Build multi-agent workflows using coordinated agents and prompts for reporting and dissemination.
• Prototype, write production-quality code, and maintain deployed AI capabilities.
• Integrate existing foundation models into software architectures through APIs and orchestration frameworks.
• Select appropriate models and approaches for specific tasks rather than training models from scratch.
• Design, test, and refine prompts and agent instructions to automate manual tasks.
• Decompose complex mission workflows into executable agent pipeline steps.
• Develop testing, evaluation, and validation strategies for AI-generated outputs.
• Ensure AI output accuracy, consistency, and appropriate handling of edge cases.
• Collaborate with system engineers, software developers, and domain experts.
• Present AI approaches and discuss implementation tradeoffs with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Monitor developments in LLMs, agentic AI, orchestration frameworks, and tooling.
• Identify opportunities to apply emerging AI capabilities to the system.
