Job summary

T. Rowe Price Labs seeks a Software Engineer for its AI Engineering team in a hybrid setup between New York City and Harbor Point, Baltimore. You will design, develop, and deploy AI agents and intelligent systems, advancing ideas from concept to enterprise-scale in a Build-Operate-Transfer framework.

You will collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business partners to scale responsible AI, apply strong engineering standards, and grow your skills on modern AI products at the firm.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of professional development experience in an object-oriented language (Java, Python, or JavaScript preferred).
• Hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures (AWS, Azure), containerized microservices, and agent frameworks.
• Exposure to or strong interest in AI-enabled systems, intelligent workflows, or agentic applications.
• Familiarity with modern AI engineering patterns such as agent orchestration, tool integration, retrieval-based systems, evaluation approaches, monitoring, or guardrails is a plus.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality via automated testing, code reviews, and continuous delivery.
• A product mindset and comfort operating in a fast-evolving technology landscape.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and deploy AI agents and intelligent systems for modern cloud-based architectures.
• Collaborate with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to develop agent-driven workflows.
• Contribute to product incubation by validating ideas and preparing solutions for production adoption.
• Support the Build-Operate-Transfer model with long-term ownership and scale.
• Contribute to reusable AI capabilities across agent orchestration, prompt engineering, tool use, and retrieval systems.
• Champion engineering excellence with testing, code quality, CI/CD practices.
• Manage technical debt and drive improvements in AI platforms and infrastructure.
• Proactively seek opportunities to apply AI agents for business value.
