Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Specialist – Science for a 12-month limited term to develop K-12 assessments for state and district clients in Content Development. You will combine content expertise with AI-assisted tooling to produce standards-based items and documents while collaborating with educators and customers across projects.

You will work with psychometricians and Pearson groups, staying current with AI tech to enhance assessment content and accessibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in physics, chemistry, or equivalent experience required.
• Five years’ experience as an elementary or secondary teacher in the field of content-specific area preferred.
• Professional knowledge of content-specific area and educational trends required.
• Some experience in large-scale, educational measurement preferred.
• Demonstrated excellence in AI-supported content development, or readiness to leverage AI effectively in content creation.
• Experience or familiarity with prompting, refining, and evaluating AI-generated content for education purposes.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills
• Ability to creatively and flexibly address challenges with a variety of audiences
• Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills and the ability to work on multiple activities and adapt to unexpected events

Responsibilities

• Develop and review content-specific test items across grade levels for large-scale assessments.
• Help develop item specifications, test blueprints, and other documents.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to support content quality and accessibility.
• Collaborate with team to integrate AI-generated assets in workflows.
• Select, train, and manage item writers and educators.
• Assist in customer meetings with content assessment expertise.
• Support test construction and review of test forms.
• Consult with customers during planning and reviews.
• Work with Pearson groups and psychometricians.
• Stay current with emerging AI technologies in content creation.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
