Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Systems Engineer - SI and Automation to join the Digital Engineering team in Idaho Falls. You will own the architecture, development, and integration of digital SI/ML systems that automate engineering workflows across design, safety, and licensing.

Expect to define requirements, perform system trade studies, curate data pipelines, and develop software using MATLAB, Simulink, and Python.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and deploying ML/SI or agentic systems that automate engineering workflows.
• Hands-on experience integrating modeling and simulation tools with systems.
• A record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.
• Experience writing code in Python.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate consistently and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and integrate digital and agentic SI systems for design engineering, safety, and licensing.
• Define and validate system requirements with traceability.
• Perform system-level trade studies on ML/SI feasibility.
• Curate datasets and lead data pipeline development.
• Optimize, program, and develop software using MATLAB, Simulink, and Python.
• Build, integrate, and support agentic SI workflows and other SI/ML-driven capabilities.
