Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory seeks a software test engineer to design, develop, and maintain automated tests (unit, integration, API, UI, and end-to-end) for web applications, back-end services, and desktop products, applying rigorous engineering discipline.

You will integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast feedback, apply AI-assisted testing approaches, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with developers early in the lifecycle to define testable requirements and ensure code quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field or 11 years of relevant experience.
• Experience writing automated tests (unit/integration/API/UI) with NUnit, xUnit, MSTest, JUnit, Selenium, or Playwright.
• Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio or VS Code.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to meet DOE access requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for web apps, back-end integrations, and desktop products.
• Develop innovative automation approaches for difficult-to-test software using UI automation and mocks.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to provide fast feedback and reduce flaky tests.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate test development and coverage.
• Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with developers to improve testability and quality.
