Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a skilled Automation Test Engineer to design and maintain automated tests for web and backend systems, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines.

The role emphasizes applying software engineering principles, mentoring teams, and leveraging AI-assisted testing approaches to improve coverage and reliability. Idaho Falls-based, on-site work with a strong cybersecurity posture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology or related field, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
• Experience writing automated tests (unit, integration, API, and/or UI) using frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, MSTest, JUnit, Selenium, or Playwright.
• Experience with IDEs such as Visual Studio or VS Code.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated unit, integration, API, UI, and end-to-end tests for web applications, back-end integrations, and desktop products.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines for fast, reliable feedback and reduce flaky tests.
• Mentor junior engineers and lead automated testing and quality control practices.
