Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Engineer II to design and deliver automation tools and AI-powered services for our global network infrastructure. You will own end-to-end solutions on a modern AWS stack across thousands of sites.

You will build AI agents, downtime coordination systems, and self-service tools for network engineers, mentoring peers and driving reliability across the team.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards and operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and operate full-stack tools and AI-powered services used by network engineers across thousands of Amazon sites, owning features from requirements through deployment and ongoing operations.
• Develop AI agents that use large language models to automate operational workflows, including infrastructure debugging, intelligent Q&A, and deployment coordination.
• Build and improve the downtime window management system that Site Operations teams rely on to coordinate maintenance activities and manage automated deployment reservations.
• Partner with network engineers, systems engineers, and product managers to turn operational pain points into self-service solutions spanning web UIs, CLIs, and authorization systems.
• Mentor peers through code reviews and design discussions while identifying service bottlenecks and driving operational improvements across the team.
