Job summary

PortX, Inc. is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager for the Payments team in Seattle.

You will empower engineers, improve workflows, and leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and code quality while supporting modern payment rails and new payments solutions. You will lead a team of engineers, shape engineering practices, and drive adoption of AI-enabled tooling to realize measurable gains in velocity and team effectiveness.

• Significant, current experience in software engineering management

Responsibilities

• Lead AI-enabled productivity initiatives for engineering teams
• Define and enforce modern software engineering policies and practices
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools across the organization
• Build and optimize payment rails and user experiences
• Manage headcount, budgeting, and hiring plans within the team
• Lead and participate in design and code reviews with AI-augmented focus
• Establish Agile SDLC, estimation standards, and project management practices
• Define use of JIRA, GitHub, CI/CD, and metrics dashboards
• Track KPIs like velocity, cycle time, and defect rate
• Coach engineers and foster career growth across multiple teams
