Job summary

AvidXchange is seeking a Principal Engineer for Payments to shape technical direction and hands-on architecture for our payments platform. The role blends coding, system design, and cross-functional leadership to deliver scalable, secure solutions that process millions of B2B payments.

You will work with AI-based SDLC, coach engineers, and partner with product and operations to align technical outcomes with business goals on this hybrid, Charlotte-based team.

Qualifications

• Agentic AI-first SDLC experience with hands-on coding agents.
• Experience with AI tooling and practical guidance across teams.
• Bachelor's/master's with 10+ years .NET and cloud app design experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive Payments platform technical approach and design decisions.
• Advance scalability, reliability, and observability with API-first and event-driven design.
• Collaborate with architects and engineers to optimize architecture and roadmap.
• Adopt an AI-based SDLC and use AI coding agents daily.
• Model AI-first mindset and promote tooling standards across the team.
• Mentor senior engineers through reviews and technical guidance.
• Ensure alignment with product, operations, and business needs.
