Ichor Systems seeks a Manufacturing AI & Automation Engineer to identify, develop, and deploy AI-powered automation across production and engineering operations in Oregon. Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline related to manufacturing engineering, systems engineering, or computer science.
  • 5–10 years of engineering experience with automation and digital technologies and applying AI/data-driven solutions to manufacturing or operations.
  • Experience applying AI, LLMs, digital automation, or intelligent workflow technologies to real-world challenges.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing and engineering processes and ability to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Ability to translate requirements into technical solutions and collaborate across cross-functional teams.
  • Experience with structured and unstructured data and enterprise information systems.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills with ability to evaluate new technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to apply AI, digital automation, and intelligent systems across manufacturing and engineering operations.
  • Develop AI-enabled tools to automate repetitive engineering, manufacturing, quality, and clerical documentation activities.
  • Develop paperless factory workflows, digital records, intelligent documentation, and automated information retrieval.
  • Create and maintain work instructions, procedures, and other technical content using AI.
  • Build intelligent search/knowledge-management to retrieve procedures, drawings, and historical data.
  • Apply LLMs and foundation models to manufacturing workflows using enterprise AI platforms.
  • Develop AI-assisted workflows that reduce manual data entry and paperwork across systems.
  • Integrate AI with manufacturing equipment, automation, inspection, and production data.
  • Evaluate AI apps for machine optimization, predictive analytics, anomalies, and quality control.
  • Identify opportunities for robotic/software/digital automation across operations.
  • Develop scripts/integrations connecting AI tools with manufacturing/business systems.
  • Assess manufacturing processes for improvements in cycle time, productivity, quality, and cost.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate problems into AI solutions.
  • Develop proof-of-concept solutions and transition to production tools.
  • Establish methods to validate AI-generated information with appropriate oversight.
  • Develop standards for responsible AI use in manufacturing.
  • Train engineers and staff on new AI/automation tools.
  • Track improvements in productivity, quality, cost, and efficiency.
