Job summary

The Lead Quality Engineer at Axos Bank will oversee a regression testing release team for web and mobile banking applications, ensuring timely go/no-go decisions and high-quality deployments. The role emphasizes AI-first test generation, maintenance of Playwright and Appium suites, and collaboration across squads in a fast-paced environment.

You will mentor QEs, track quality metrics, and contribute to AI tooling adoption and reliability in digital banking experiences, reporting to QE

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of quality engineering experience, including leading a team of 6+.
• Experience in the banking or fintech industry.
• Hands-on test automation in web UI (Playwright or Cypress), mobile (Appium), or API (Postman or RestAssured).
• Experience testing web and mobile apps (iOS and Android).
• Experience managing software releases and leading a release team, including go/no-go decision-making.
• Exposure to AI agents in software testing, including AI-assisted test generation, execution, and maintenance.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI tools such as Cursor or Claude.
• SQL for test data validation and backend verification.
• Strong QE methodologies, tools, and processes, including quality gates and quality metrics.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a release team for regression testing of web and mobile releases.
• Manage testing across the release process end to end; plan, schedule, coordinate; communicate blockers and risks.
• Make the go/no-go call and provide formal quality sign-off.
• Provide after-hours release support as QE representative on release calls.
• Maintain automated regression suites for web (Playwright) and mobile (Appium) with an AI-first mindset.
• Maintain release quality dashboards to track key metrics.
• Escalate quality-related conflicts to QE management.
• Mentor QEs through 1-on-1 coaching and peer review sessions.
