Job summary

Gusto is seeking a Fraud Investigations Analyst to join our Fraud Investigations team. You will conduct end-to-end fraud investigations involving account takeover, business email compromise, identity theft, payment fraud, and other emerging fraud typologies.

Using a combination of investigative expertise, open-source intelligence, internal data, and AI-enabled tools, you will identify root causes, assess risk, and document investigative findings.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of fraud investigations or similar work in financial environments.
• Strong written and verbal communication for defensible narratives and risk assessment.
• Experience with fraud typologies (account takeover, BEC, identity theft, payments)
• Ability to manage multiple investigations under pressure and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Analyze account activity, authentication data, and external intel to surface fraud indicators and build narratives.
• Prepare Unusual Activity Referrals (UARs) and provide remediation recommendations.
• Support customers affected by fraud and coordinate with external banking partners on fund recovery.
• Leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate research while validating outputs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Product, Engineering, and Data Science to improve tooling and AI-assisted workflows.
