Job summary

Commerce is seeking an AI-first Data Engineering Manager to lead our Enterprise Data team. You will own Snowflake-based pipelines, guide a hands-on group, and drive autonomous, agentic data workflows across reporting, analytics, and data products.

This remote-first role offers collaboration across time zones and opportunity to shape modern data platforms with AI tooling, while mentoring engineers and ensuring data governance and security.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering with 3+ years leading a team.
• Production Snowflake and Airflow experience with tuning and cost management.
• Experience with distributed teams across time zones.
• Strong SQL and Python; able to contribute code.
• Familiar with dbt and ELT tooling alongside Snowflake/Airflow.
• Experience using AI coding assistants in engineering workflows.
• Mentoring engineers and developing talent.
• Knowledge of data modeling, governance, and security/compliance.
• Excellent communication translating tech tradeoffs to business terms.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of data engineers.
• Own the technical roadmap and architecture on Snowflake and Airflow.
• Embed AI-first tools into daily data engineering workflows.
• Coach on agentic data engineering and autonomous checks.
• Partner with Analytics, Data Science, Product, and stakeholders.
• Set standards for data quality, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Drive pipeline modernization and evaluate new data/AI tooling.
• Establish scalable design review, incident response, and docs.
• Report team health, delivery, and platform reliability.
