Job summary

Commerce seeks an AI-first Data Engineering Manager in a hybrid Austin office. You will lead the Enterprise Data platform built on Snowflake and Airflow, embedding agentic tools to accelerate pipeline development and data products.

You will mentor engineers, define standards for data quality and cost efficiency, and collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, and Product teams to deliver reliable data solutions.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in data engineering, with 3+ years leading or managing a team
• Hands-on production experience with Snowflake and Apache Airflow
• Strong SQL and Python skills; ability to review and write pipeline code
• Experience with modern ELT tooling (dbt, Fivetran/Airbyte) and data governance
• Familiarity with agentic AI tools and deploying AI-assisted data pipelines
• Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent practical experience

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a data engineering team
• Own the technical roadmap for the Enterprise Data platform (Snowflake + Airflow)
• Embed agentic tools into daily workflow for development, testing, and review
• Coach engineers on agentic data engineering and autonomous pipelines with guardrails
• Collaborate with Analytics, Data Science, Product, and business partners
• Set data quality, observability, lineage, and cost efficiency standards
• Modernize data pipelines and evaluate new data/AI tooling
• Establish scalable design reviews, incident response, and documentation practices
• Report team health, delivery, and platform reliability to leadership
