Job summary

Gore Performance Solutions (GPS) Applied Research is hiring a Data Engineer/AI Solution Engineer in Elkton, MD, for a hybrid role. You will build a scalable data platform, secure data access, and AI-enabled workflows to support predictive analytics and NPD decisions.

You will own end-to-end delivery across PostgreSQL, Python pipelines, REST APIs, and cloud deployments on Microsoft Azure, with Angular/React frontends and RBAC down to the database level.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• Minimum 1 year of PostgreSQL database architecture and design experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain PostgreSQL database architecture with fine-grained access control.
• Develop Python libraries and automated data ingestion pipelines at scale.
• Build REST APIs and web tools for data, models, and AI-enabled workflows.
• Own cloud architecture and deployments on Azure (Azure Container Apps, Azure Static Web Apps).
• Develop frontend apps using Angular or React for intuitive data access.
• Implement Microsoft Entra ID RBAC down to the DB level.
• Coordinate with GPS IT to integrate security, pipelines, and APIs.
• Set up CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code for reliable deployments.
• Design AI/ML-enabled workflows for predictive analytics and materials modeling.
• Translate materials science requirements into structured data models and workflows.
• Collaborate with GPS AR scientists and IT to deliver scalable solutions.
• Document architecture and establish reusable frameworks and standards.
