Job summary

Delta Dental of Missouri seeks a Data Science Intern to develop AI-powered solutions in a Microsoft Azure environment, using Python, NLP, and computer vision. You will collaborate with senior data scientists and contribute to projects addressing real-world dental insurance challenges.

The internship runs full-time for ~ four months, 40 hours/week, including hands-on experience with AI agent development, data preparation, model building, deployment, evaluation, and testing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed a bachelor's degree in CS / Data Science / Math or related field.
• Experience with Python through coursework or projects; familiarity with ML libraries a plus.
• Experience with data visualization tools and APIs/SQL basics.
• Familiarity with large language models, AI agents, or NLP is a plus.
• Interest in Azure cloud services and automated testing/evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Support AI agent development to assist operations and inquiries.
• Build Azure Function Apps and backend services to orchestrate AI workflows.
• Develop automated evaluation tools and test scenarios for AI accuracy.
• Enhance AI capabilities through prompt design and data retrieval improvements.
• Apply CV/NLP/LLMs to AI-powered applications and workflows.
• Document workflows and results; assist with deployment and maintenance.
